ACS Showcases Advanced Manufacturing and Automation at the Indian Ocean Defence & Security Conference & Exhibition

ACS was proud to exhibit at the 2026 Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) Conference & Exhibition, connecting with defence, government and industry leaders to discuss the technologies shaping the future of Australian manufacturing, automation and sovereign capability.

Held in Perth, the event provided an excellent opportunity to showcase ACS’s expertise in industrial automation, robotics, machine safety and advanced manufacturing solutions, while engaging with organisations focused on improving operational efficiency, resilience and local capability.

Strong Interest in Industrial 3D Printing

One of the standout technologies on display was the Markforged FX10 Industrial 3D Printer, which attracted significant attention from attendees across the defence and industrial sectors.

As the exclusive Western Australian distributor for Markforged, ACS demonstrated how industrial additive manufacturing is enabling organisations to produce high-strength, functional parts on demand while reducing lead times, minimising inventory requirements and improving supply chain resilience.

Visitors were particularly interested in the FX10’s ability to:

  • Print industrial-grade composite parts reinforced with Continuous Carbon Fibre
  • Produce end-use parts, tooling, jigs and fixtures
  • Manufacture components locally and on demand
  • Reduce dependency on traditional supply chains
  • Support maintenance, repair and operational readiness requirements

The conversations reinforced the growing importance of advanced manufacturing technologies in supporting Australia’s sovereign industrial capability and defence readiness.

Automation and Robotics in Action

Alongside the FX10, ACS showcased a Universal Robots collaborative robot (cobot), demonstrating how flexible automation solutions can improve productivity, consistency and safety across a range of industrial applications.

The live demonstrations generated strong engagement, with visitors keen to understand how collaborative robotics can be integrated into existing operations to support workforce efficiency while maintaining high safety standards.

Supporting Australian Industry

Throughout the exhibition, the ACS team had the opportunity to meet with organisations from across the defence, maritime, manufacturing, resources and infrastructure sectors.

A common theme throughout many discussions was the need for practical, scalable technologies that can help organisations increase productivity, improve operational resilience and address workforce challenges.

From industrial automation and machine safety through to advanced manufacturing and robotics, ACS continues to work with clients to identify and implement solutions that deliver measurable operational outcomes.

Events such as IODS play an important role in bringing together industry leaders, technology providers and end users to share ideas and explore the innovations that will help shape Australia’s future industrial and defence capability.
